Welcome to Durness.
We hope that you are all staying safe and well during these difficult times.  As we emerge from lockdown our priority is to ensure that we look after our local community and the landscape around us. Please follow our guidelines to respect, protect and enjoy Durness and the surroundings. Visit Scotland's Visitor Charter guides responsible tourism.

To See & Do
Durness and the area is an outdoor paradise. We've put together a few suggestions here.  
The Geopark has put together this interactive map of Durness showing everything from the location of toilets to cycle pumps, cash machines to waste bins.


Cape Wrath Training Centre Firing
Live firing on Cape Wrath, at which time much of the area is closed. is announced on the official government site:

Accommodation
  Some accommodation remains closed and most that is open is fully booked weeks or months in advance, so please plan ahead!  See here for up-to-date listings.

Food & Fuel
    Durness  Spar, Richard Mackay & Sons  (Facebook) ​at the road junction to the south also sells petrol and diesel with a 24-hour self-service pump.​
Spar is open 8:00-18:00 Monday to Friday ; 9:00 to 18:00 Saturday; 9:00 - 16:00 Sunday. .

GP Surgery.
There is a medical practice in the village with limited opening hours: please check up-to-date information here.

​Local transport
​    
The Durness Bus normally operates daily services between Durness and Lairg, a Saturday service to Inverness and Thurso and a Dial-a-Bus service for local people and walkers. Most services have been withdrawn or available only for essential workers for the duration of the COVID-19 shutdown. See their web site for up-to-date information.
The Durness Bus generously sponsors these web pages.

   Cape Wrath Ferry
The ferry will take you across the Kyle of Durness to the mini-bus service to Cape Wrath. Check their
web site for up-to-date information.
