Durness Community Group

Durness Community Group
Scottish Charity Number:  SC032179
Registered Office: Durness Village Hall, Durness, IV27 4QA

The Durness Community Group is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).  It was previously a charitable company and known as the Durness Development Group from September 2001 before converting to a SCIO in December 2020.
We work with the local community to ensure that Durness continues to be a thriving and sustainable place in which to live and work.
Every community organisation in the Durness area automatically has a seat on the DCG. (and is urged to send a representative to every meeting to fill it)
The specific economic challenges facing remote Highland communities mean that the smallest intervention can have a major impact and the DCG aims to work with local residents, community groups, businesses and social enterprises to support on-going and sustainable growth. The DCG also works in partnership with other communities where mutual benefit can be achieved.
All activities and projects reflect the DCG’s values of inclusion and transparency.

We publish all meeting agenda and all minutes, once they are agreed to be accurate, on this site.
Note the Annual General Meetings are open to all residents and interested parties.

The Durness Community Group is committed to advancing the Scottish Government Fair Work First Policy and the criteria as set out within the Fair Work First guidance document at https://www.gov.scot/publications/fair-work-first-guidance-2/pages/6/.
We confirm that we pay our staff the Real Living Wage and/or will do so if we employ people in the future. We make every effort to ensure that our suppliers/contractors are offered the same Real Living Wage rate when procuring goods or services. We also confirm that we offer our staff and/or volunteers an Effective Workers Voice channel within the workplace.
